Blurry lines

2023 — Master’s project, Konstfack

This is my master’s project from Konstfack, exploring the fine lines and shifting boundaries between craft, art, design, furniture and architecture.

Three of the sculptures side by side on a concrete floor before a grey backdrop: a peach glass form trailing pale ribbons on a rust-brown stand with amber glass feet, two clear glass forms held in a tall yellow ladder-like frame on legs sheathed in beige fabric, and a smoky grey glass head on a black stand hung with black straps.

The project, Blurry Lines, brings together a collection of objects that exist somewhere between furniture and sculpture. Rather than defining them within a single category, I wanted to explore what happens in the space between different disciplines, functions and materials.

The works combine wooden constructions with blown and cast glass, as well as textiles. The different materials have their own qualities, histories and ways of being shaped, yet come together to form objects that are both functional and sculptural.

Through Blurry Lines, I investigate how material, scale, form and function can challenge our understanding of what an object is and how we relate to it. The pieces invite both use and contemplation, moving between the familiar and the unexpected.
