2026 — Blown glass on hand-turned wood

Three sculptures on a cream backdrop: two crumpled smoky-grey glass tops and a frosted blush-pink cushion cap on turned grey-green, charcoal and red-brown wooden stems, in window light.

Spira takes its starting point in the forest and is a continuation of the work Närmare 1:9, which explores the inheritance of a forest and the responsibility of caring for it for future generations.

The work holds a tension between our desire to manage nature and nature’s own force and direction. The question of how we can care for something that also has its own life and its own sense of time lies at the heart of the work. Spira becomes an abstracted image of nature, a way of approaching the forest through form, material and embodied experience.

The glass was blown using a textile form as a reference, while the wooden element was hand-turned. I made both parts myself.
