The 2026 award was designed by me and consists of thirteen individually blown glass sculptures. Using the traditional rag rug (trasmatta) as a reference, I transferred the structure of the woven textile into glass. The soft becomes hard, the transient becomes lasting. The tradition of rag rugs is included in Sweden’s national inventory of living cultural heritage and carries generations of craft knowledge, reuse and care for materials. The colour palette is based on Excellent Swedish Form’s visual identity. In the thirteen awards, cultural heritage and contemporary design come together, each with its own distinct expression.

The awards were presented by His Royal Highness Prince Carl Philip at Sara Kulturhus in Skellefteå.
